A Voice. A Rhythm. A Haitian Story.

For several decades, Tito Maréchal has carried Haitian music forward with an energy that transcends generations. A singer, guitarist, percussionist, and singer-songwriter, he is one of those artists whose journey tells much more than the story of a musical career: it tells a part of the history of Haitian popular music.

Born in Haiti, Tito discovered a deep passion for percussion and rhythm at an early age. His professional career began in the mid-1960s, at a time when Haiti’s music scene was experiencing remarkable vibrancy.

He got his start with Combo Negro before continuing his journey with notable groups such as As de Pic, Super Tabou, Safari Combo/Super 9, and Caribbean Sextet. These experiences allowed him to work alongside several generations of musicians and develop an artistic identity deeply rooted in Haitian culture.

Over the years, Tito Maréchal became a versatile musician, able to bring percussion, guitar, and vocals together. His art remains deeply connected to the rhythms and traditions of Haiti, while also embracing new encounters and influences.

Having been based in Quebec for several decades, Tito continues this cultural mission through his performances, collaborations, and projects. He travels throughout the province, helping bring Haitian sounds to an ever-growing audience.

The organizers of Nuits d’Afrique have notably presented him as an artist and specialist in Haitian percussion, highlighting the important role he plays in preserving and sharing this musical culture.

In 2016, he took his artistic journey in a new direction with the creation of Blues Kréyol, a project where the soul of Haiti meets the blues and a contemporary musical sensibility. The album Blues Kreyol, released in 2016, features nine songs and reflects his desire to create a bridge between heritage and modernity.

His journey has also led him to share the Montreal stage with numerous artists and participate in major events within the Haitian cultural community.

He notably took part in Kanaval KANPE, alongside leading Quebec and Haitian artists, and has performed several times at the Nuits d’Afrique International Festival.

Today, Tito Maréchal represents a living musical memory in motion. His music carries the traces of several eras of Haitian creativity while continuing to evolve.

Through his percussion, guitar, voice, and dedication, he shares a culture, a history, and a sense of pride.

Tito Maréchal is the rhythm of Haiti that continues to beat.
